Zentsuji is a small city in northwestern Kagawa Prefecture covering 39.93 square kilometers.
Facing the Seto Inland Sea, it has a mild climate and is rich in natural resources. The region also has few natural disasters.
For these reasons, powerful clans lived and thrived here in ancient times.
It subsequently established itself as a busy gate-front town and military city.
People continue to come to this area to make the Shikoku Pilgrimage, the journey to 88 sacred sites around the island.

The people in the community have warmly welcomed travelers with a spirit of hospitality (osettai) based on the teachings of the great man Kukai, posthumously named Kobo Daishi. This tradition endures to this day.
